School counselling service

School counselling staff are members of the team.

A teacher may recommend the service by referring a student to the school’s learning and support team. As a parent or carer, you may refer your child directly to the school counselling service. Students can also self-refer to the service.

The school counselling service can:

  • support students who are worrying about school work, friends, getting in trouble at school or feeling down
  • help parents and carers make decisions about your child’s education
  • assess a student’s learning and behaviour
  • help teachers and students identify and address disabilities that may affect learning
  • liaise with other agencies regarding student wellbeing.

School counselling is confidential.

For more information about learning and support teams and the school counselling service, please contact your school.

Our school is fortunate to have a number of school counsellors in attendance at various times to support our students.

Ms Kerri McTernan, Mr Dudley Poole and Ms Bryony Wiseman are the substantive School Counsellors at Manly Campus. They has extensive experience in supporting young people and work with our wellbeing team to enhance the outcomes for students.

Ms Melissa Moss (Senior Psychologist-Education) has been a counsellor at Manly Campus and has established a strong rapport with many students, offering support and advice across all year groups. While Ms Moss supervises the counselling team, she is also able to provide additional support.

Our counselling team value the opportunity to work with the parents and carers of our students.

To make an appointment with a school counsellor, please phone the school on 02 9905 3982.
