School counselling service

School counselling staff are members of the school learning and support team.

A teacher may recommend the service by referring a student to the school’s learning and support team. As a parent or carer, you may refer your child directly to the school counselling service. Students can also self-refer to the service.

The school counselling service can:

  • support students who are worrying about school work, friends, getting in trouble at school or feeling down
  • help parents and carers make decisions about your child’s education
  • assess a student’s learning and behaviour
  • help teachers and students identify and address disabilities that may affect learning
  • liaise with other agencies regarding student wellbeing.

School counselling is confidential.

Our school is fortunate to have two school counsellors in attandance at various times to support our students.

Ms Deborah Campbell-Allen is the substantive School Counsellor at Manly Campus. She has extensive experience in supporting young people and works with our welfare team to enhance the outcomes for students.

Mr David Martin (Senior Psychologist-Education), has been a counsellor in the school for many years and has established a strong rapport with the students, offering support and advice across all year groups. While Mr Martin supervises a team of counsellors on the Northern Beaches, he is also able to provide additional support to the Manly Campus counselling service.

Both Ms Campbell-Allen and Mr Martin value the opportunity in working with the parents of our students as well.

To make an appointment with a school counsellor, please phone the school on 02 9905 3982.
