Mathematics is mandatory in Years K-10, and at NBSC Manly Campus, students are encouraged to extend their learning by connecting and mastering mathematics K-10 syllabus outcomes:
- number and algebra
- measurement and space
- statistics and probability
The working mathematically processes present in the Mathematics K-10 syllabus are:
- communicating
- understanding and fluency
- reasoning
- problem solving.
Students learn to work mathematically by using these processes in an interconnected way. The coordinated development of these processes results in students becoming mathematically proficient.
A student develops understanding and fluency in mathematics through:
- exploring and connecting mathematical concepts
- choosing and applying mathematical techniques to solve problems
- communicating their thinking and reasoning coherently and clearly.
Stage 4 mathematics includes Years 7 and 8 and Stage 5 mathematics includes Years 9 and 10.
In Stage 5, all the core and pathway topics are studied at NBSC Manly Campus.
