The Manly Campus dance ensembles offer dance training and performance opportunities to students from Years 7-12. We run up to 7 ensembles each year in the styles of contemporary, jazz and musical theatre, and cater for novice to experienced dancers.
The dance ensembles perform at a wide range of events throughout the year, including school events such as Open day, Orientation Day, and Creative Arts night, local and state-wide eisteddfods, the Sydney North Dance Festival, and our annual Dance Showcase. Students in the dance program also have the opportunity to audition for Schools Spectacular and the State Dance Festival, to attend professional dance performance events and workshops, and to develop their own choreographic skills.
In the last few years our dance program has more than tripled in size. We have achieved placings at Ryde Eisteddfod, Extreme Eisteddfod and Sydney Eisteddfod, been accepted into the Schools Spectacular and Australian Youth Olympic Opening Ceremony, performed at the Sydney Opera House, and had students from the program successfully audition for the Sydney North and NSW Public Schools Dance Ensembles.
Students may attend open auditions at the start of the year to determine their placement in an ensemble. Participation involves commitment to attend weekly rehearsals before or after school, and all performance events throughout the year.
The ensembles are coordinated by Ms Woodward, who is happy to answer any questions and can be contacted by email: email@example.com.
