Religion and ethics

NSW public schools offer special religious education and special education in ethics, delivered by approved providers wherever available.

Special Religious Education (SRE) at NBSC Manly Campus

Special Religious Education (SRE) is provided for students in Year 7-10. Manly Campus offers the choice for students to participate in Catholic or Protestant Studies. Students not attending Special Religious Education are given supervised alternative meaningful activities.

Manly Campus will send a form out at the beginning of 2025 for you to indicate your preference. This preference will be able to be updated at any time through an update form on the parent portal.

If your preferred Special Religious Education or Special Education in Ethics option is not available, please contact the approved provider. Students not attending Special Religious Education are given supervised alternative meaningful activities.

Catholic

Catholic Diocese of Broken Bay

Lessons include activities that are fun and inclusive for students, whilst also providing them the opportunity to critically explore in depth their faith and to pray and reflect.

Combined Christian

Anglican Diocese of Sydney - Think Faith

With SRE teachers from local churches, students ask questions, explore the Bible and discover the Good News of Jesus Christ and what it means to be a Christian in our world today. Lessons are age-appropriate, fun and inclusive.

Alternative Meaningful Activities (AMA)

Students not attending special religious education or special education in ethics will be located in a separate space and will participate in alternative meaningful activities. This could include reading, private study or completing homework.
