Harmony Day - 21 March 2019
Today the NBSC Manly Campus Student Wellbeing Advocat Team (SWATs) lead a minute's silence during PC today, to pay respect to the victims and survivors of the Christchurch tragedy.
The SWATs then highlighted the importance of creating a society with an ongoing commitment to inclusivity, respect and belonging. They did an activity created by teacher Lisa Guiffrida, where by students were asked to reflect upon how they could demonstrate respect, inclusivity and belonging in their everyday interactions with one another. They wrote these on pieces of orange paper and were then displayed in the school foyer. This activity represents one of the core elements of our School Plan; ‘Respectful Relationships’ and how these can be built and maintained through our everyday interactions; many of the orange strips included ways that people can effectively and empathetically communicate with one another.
