Year 7 students, under the guidance of staff from Masters Academy, participated in a Public Speaking workshop.
Students were given the opportunity to develop skills in understanding what is required for the preparation and delivery of presentations in a range of contexts and how to use voice, expression and body language to best convey that message.
Research indicates that public speaking is one of the life situations that many people find to be most fearsome. These workshops are one way in which we can support students such that these fears, if present, may be overcome. In most courses, students will have to present to their peers and teachers in some form, and if we can support this through the development of skills and techniques it will stand them in good stead as they move into the more senior years of schooling and beyond.
