Year 12 Economics students had the opportunity of attending a lecture-style conference from a number of leading economists from UBS and the Reserve Bank of Australia.
The presenters summarised everything from:
- the current global economic trends, the causes of these trends and the impacts they have on Australians
- the main changes in this year's federal budget and the impact this will have on a variety of aspects of the economy
- the drivers of growth in the Australian market and the actions the government has taken and can use to address this
- tips on how to apply the theory in the HSC examination
Mr Jamie Kay, Head teacher, said that overall, it was a good opportunity to consolidate the knowledge our students have gained throughout their study of Economics and to reinforce the points being made by their teachers in class. At the same time, it hopefully has inspired some of our students through seeing the future job opportunities for economists in the financial industry and other areas of society.
