Young writers

Evan Foo, Bronté Nicholls and Tania Huang were all recognised at the recent Warringah Young Writers' Competition for 2015.

Evan was named as runner-up in the Year 7-8 competition for his piece titled ‘Treehouse'. Bronte (Year 8) and Tania (Year 9) received Highly Commended Awards in their competitions for ‘The Flightless Bird' and ‘A Reminder' respectively.

Over 400 entries were received from students at over 50 schools.  The high standard made the selection of a shortlist and judging to determine finalists very challenging. Writers were judged on characterisation, originality, plot and use of language in a 750 word essay with "treehouse" as the theme.  Evan, Bronte (pictured above) and Tania received their awards from the Mayor of Warringah, Michael Regan, at a ceremony held at the Warringah Council Chambers in Dee Why.
