Lions Club Youth of the Year winner

Congratulations to Ella Clarke (Year 11) who has won the Balgowlah Lions Club Youth of the Year Quest.

Ella presented a five-minute speech encouraging the increasing of teaching Chinese language in NSW schools, as well as an impromptu general knowledge speech. 

Her passion for Chinese was kindled by her family's 6 months in Beijing 5 or 6 years ago which led her to spend 6 months at a high school in China last year.

Ella is currently studying Chinese Continuers for the HSC through the Open High School, an opportunity made available through Manly Selective.  The next step in the Lions competition will be the North Sydney Regional competition, to be held in the new year.
