Stage 5
In this course, students study dance as an art form, involving the development of physical skills as well as aesthetic, artistic and cultural understanding.
The course focuses on the three interrelated components of performance, composition and appreciation.
Students develop the ability to express themselves through dance, devise their own compositions, understand anatomy and physiology, and appreciate the significance of dance to a range of social and historical contexts.
The study of dance supports the physical, creative and intellectual development of all students. This course caters for students with and without previous dance experience.
Students will develop their self-confidence, capacity for reflection, communication skills and creativity and imagination, vital skills for any further study. It is recommended that students interested in studying Dance in Years 11 and 12 complete the Stage 5 course.
