We were delighted to welcome 60 Year 5 and 6 students from the Mona Vale Opportunity Class for a taste of high school.
They had a fantastic day completing a range of activities and getting to know the school and some of its students, especially their wonderful Year 10 tour guides. The excursion was also a great opportunity to build The day started with a tour of the library and a fun ‘find a book' relay game, organised by Mrs Harrison, with sweet treats for the winners.
Next, selected Year 7 students shared their beautifully illustrated ‘Making a Difference through Personal Best' picture books to the primary students, who gave some thoughtful and well-considered feedback, and also had a chance to ask some burning questions about high school.
Mona Vale OC then got a taster of MSC Dance and Drama, led by Ms Giuffrida and Ms Woodward, along with a group of Year 9 students who took the primary students through a range of fun games and activities previewing these Year 9 elective subjects.
The highlight for many Mona Vale students was Ms Maggs' science class, where they carried out experiments to name a mystery substance. They particularly enjoyed the flame tests and the opportunity to handle real chemicals. Their visit ended by watching the vocal ensemble's lunchtime rehearsal.
