36 year 10 prospective Peer Academic Leaders (PALs) recently underwent training under the guidance of Head Teacher Welfare, Mrs Deb Rixon.
PALs is a Manly initiative whereby older students work closely with our Year 7 students, following on from Peer Support, mentoring them in many of the vital skills required for success in their time as students at MSC and beyond. Skills such as time management, study skills, prioritisation and ‘chunking' of assignments will all be covered in the program which will run throughout Term 3.
Since introducing this program two years ago, our junior students have benefited greatly from the help of their older peers. No matter how many times a message is conveyed from teachers or parents, it is only when the same message is relayed from peers that students really appreciate the meaning and impact of the advice they are being given!
